Working with plain fabric, I wanted to keep the design minimal, so the details had to do all the work. I had the concept in mind but not a clear design picture. Using a long-sleeve shirt template, I shortened the front and back of the bodice evenly to match the sleeve block. Once I had most of the template figured out, the only things missing were the cuffs and collar. Noticing the extra width, I decided to add pleats to make use of the space while bringing in a subtle, sophisticated detail. Simple, but still interesting. Seeing the outcome, I’m really happy with the whole design.
