I participated in a Clo3D design fashion competition themed ‘metaverse’. My initial inspiration was ‘connection, bridging reality and fantasy through technology. The focal point of my design was a circuit board, embodying versatility by allowing parts of the garment to connect and disconnect. I utilised print application strategically, ensuring continuity across different pattern pieces.
My approach begins was selecting a silhouette and refining the garment’s fit before arranging pattern pieces, aiming to keep the width under 1 meter for future grading flexibility. I avoid awkward gaps and shapes unless intentionally incorporated. This rigorous process involves finding purpose for each piece, often leading to a creative standstill, resolving to finding inspiration and initiative. Despite the complexity, completing this design took a month. Although it’s a complicated process, the result is hugely rewarding!
